‘The essentials of kitesurfing’

Kitesurfing Fundamentals is designed to cover all the underpinning aspects of Kitesurfing such as site awareness, rigging kites, launching, landing and basic flying skills and techniques. It is the first step to becoming a safe and competent kitesurfer and is essential for continuing onto the Day 2 ‘Kitesurfing Progression’ and ultimately Day 3 ‘Independent Kitesurfer’ course.

Kitesurfing Fundamentals follows the internationally recognised IKO Level 1 programme and is a mix of both theoretical and practical kite skills. The overall aim of this course is to fully prepare the student for the introduction of the board that comes with the Day 2 ‘Kitesurfing Progression’ course and provide the skills necessary to ensure that they’re up and riding as soon as possible.

Skills learnt on Day 1 will include...

-Kite rigging and safety systems

-Site assessment

-Develop kite handling skills

-Controlling the kite with a harness

-Understanding communication signals

-Assisted launching and landing

-Self land

-Directional and up-wind body dragging

-Emergency pack-down and recovery
